THREE WAYS TO WEAR FLARES

Styling tips from a San Diego wardrobe and Image Consultant.

Casual

A woman with dark wavy hair, tattoos on her left arm, wearing a blue t-shirt, gold corduroy pants, and white sneakers, sitting on a white textured block against a beige background, smiling and touching her hair.

One of the easiest way to incorporate this item into your wardrobe is by keeping it casual. I love to pair these fun velvet flares from Free People with a vintage tee. As a personal stylist I love to incorporate one pair of flare pants into my clients wardrobe. There is a style for anyone and it adds such a great variety. This style is a bit of a smaller flare so are perfect for those who don’t want a super wide leg and want to keep the shape more subtle. One thing I love about this look is its so comfy and easy to personalize. You could easily pair this with an oversized t shirt since the leg is slimmer than most flares. I always recommend keeping your outfit balanced. If you are going loose fitting on top opt for a more streamlined or fitted bottom. I personally chose a more fitted tee shirt and tied it up to meet right wear the pants start.

Cali Western

I love this western inspired direction to go. I chose a pair of super wide flare for a statement piece. Paired with a button down thats tied up to accentuate the waist. This is one of the larger pant legs so its important to choose a more fitted top or something to accentuate your waist. Wear with a fun western inspired boot or mule. I personally love a pointed to shoe with a wider leg flare.

Day to Night

Classic flare jeans are a staple! These are great because you can dress them up or down. If you want to explore a flare pant, but aren’t sure I recommend starting with a flare jean. This is because you can do so much with them , dress them up or down. In this outfit I show how you can easily take this look from day to night. I paired the jeans with a bodysuit, an oversized button down and some chunky heels. The casual aspect of the jeans and button down is great for day, mixing this with a lace detailed bodysuit and heels make this a seamless transition to night. I love the versatility of this outfit. When working with my clients I always build a wardrobe for them that consists of pieces they can wear in more ways than one. Statement pieces in a wardrobe are great, but having items that can be mixed and matched is key when reinventing your closet and wardrobe.
